David Lindsay

David Lindsay Director

David has been an integral part of the Wightons team since 1984, having come from a long career in the Victorian court system. David is an accredited specialist in both Wills and Estates and Business law, and practices extensively in both of these areas.

David is also involved in many community organizations, and is currently the Chairperson of the committee of management of the Villamanta Legal Service and the honorary solicitor to numerous sporting and other community organizations.

Murray Pegg

Murray Pegg Director

Murray graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Melbourne in 1977 and was admitted to legal practice during 1978. In 1996 Murray gained accreditation as a mediator in Alternative Dispute Resolution. Murray practices principally in the area of civil litigation with an emphasis on commercial litigation. He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in trials conducted in the Federal Court of Australia, the Supreme, County and Magistrates Courts of Victoria and the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT). Murray has extensive court appearance experience extending over 30 years. Murray's litigation practice extends to conducting trials over disputed Wills in deceased estates. Murray also conducts commercial matters including sales & purchases of business, the formation of companies & trusts including self managed superannuation funds, the sale & purchase of real estate, commercial & retail leases, Wills & estates and powers of attorney.

Murray has served the local community in many fields including 5 years as a local counselor for the Shire of Barrabool during which time he spent 2 years as Deputy Mayor (prior to becoming the Surf Coast Council) As a counselor he served on approximately 20 committees of management. Murray has also served as a director of Lifeline Geelong and for 10 years as a committee member for the Modewarre Football & Netball Club

Justine Finaly

Justine Finlay Director

Justine studied law at Melbourne University and was admitted to practice in 1994. She grew up in country Victoria and made Geelong her home in 1992. Justine has been at Wightons for all of her professional career and is now the Managing Director of our firm. Justine practices in the areas of Business law dealing with leasing matters and the sale and purchase of businesses, companies and trusts, wills and estates, powers of attorney and succession planning and estate disputes, conveyancing and property matters.

Justine is a Law Institute accredited Business Law Specialist. Justine is very interested in giving back what she can to the community and is currently a board member of Vicwest Community Enterprise and the current president of Surfside Kindergarten.

Sue Fridey

Sue Fridey Director

Susan joined the Wightons team in 1999, after a career at Victoria Legal Aid. She has extensive experience in family law, criminal law and domestic violence matters. Susan is the lead practitioner for our family law and criminal law teams.

She has extensive experience in Child Protection applications initiated by the Department of Human Services, representing the interests of parents and children in this jurisdiction.

Megan Anderson

Megan Anderson Solicitor

Megan was admitted to practice in August 2005 after completing her law degree at Bond University in Queensland. Megan practices in the areas of Commercial Law, conveyancing, sales/ purchases of businesses, leasing, mortgage work and Wills and Estates. Megan also works at our Corio office each Wednesday and Friday and is available by appointment at our Winchelsea office.

Domenic was admitted to practice in February 2009, after completing his articles with us. He is practicing in the areas of Family Law and Criminal law, appearing regularly in the Magistrates court.

Grant Walker Solicitor

Grant was admitted to practice in February 2009 after completing his articles with Wightons. He primarily practices in the areas of commercial litigation, debt recovery and workplace relations. Grant is also a committee member of the Geelong Law Association

Lauren Matthews

Lauren Matthews Solicitor

Lauren joined Wightons Lawyers in 2010. She practices in family law, criminal law, child protection and family violence matters. Lauren spent her early years practicing refugee and immigration law before working abroad for 10 years, mostly serving the United Nations. Lauren is a member of the committee of management of the Villamanta Legal Service.

Adrian Paull

Adrian Paull Solicitor

Adrian joined Wightons in 2011 as part of our family law and criminal law team. He has extensive criminal law experience having worked with the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions in South Australia, and as a senior solicitor with the Office of Public Prosecutions here in Victoria.

Tracey Hanlon Conveyancing clerk

Tracey has over 20 years experience in the legal industry with at least 15 of those years working in the field of conveyancing. She looks after the day to day running of most of the conveyancing work undertaken at Wightons for residential sales and purchases under the direct supervision of Justine and Megan.

Free Legal Advice

We offer free legal advice clinics at both of our offices, as follows:

Geelong – Wednesday evenings 5–8pm

Corio – Thursday evenings 5–7pm

All interviews are 15 minutes in duration and appointments are essential.

We also offer a dedicated Family Law clinic at our Geelong office on Wednesday afternoons, providing 30 minute appointments
